Bromogg, Moroghurond

Bromogg, Moroghurond

Rob Lane

Here we are then, Miercenaries - the new era begins: from this month onwards, we'll be releasing a mighty monster each month as well as a battle host from the same kindred, both of which you can purchase either physically or digitally!

Bromogg is this month's incredible monster, a huge (206mm tall!) and mighty giant from the Albainn kindred, complementing the Oghu Guardians battle host released last week. Each month the monster and the host will be released at the same time, please note - it's just this first one that is a little late (mainly because I was on holiday at the end of June).

To show you how enormous this guy is, here he is in scale with a moroghur and oghur from this month's battle host and a human warrior from January's Albainn. As you can see, he's absolutely huge!

Physical Miniatures In Stock - at Half Price!

Like the battle host from this month, Bromogg is available in both physical and digital form; he's also cast in resin, rather than 3d printed, so you're assured of a very high quality miniature.

As well as that, for the first week of Bromogg's release, he will be available at half price; a veritable bargain to get your juices flowing and your trigger finger itching! To celebrate this, we're also making sure this month's battle host's individual purchases have a great discount, too - we can't give such a big discount on our 3d printed miniatures, though; these guys are on sale at 25% off.

Head over to the Albainn page or the New Releases page to grab this month's monster and battle host as physical products.

Limited Edition Monster with Scenic Base

Each monthly monster will also be available with a strictly limited edition scenic base, again both physically and digitally; this scenic base will be removed at the end of the month.

Note, too, that the digital version with scenic base will ONLY be available if you purchase the Beastmaster Digital Monster Subscription, outlined below.

Bromogg, Moroghurond with Scenic Base

This month's scenic base shows Bromogg stepping over a crumbling wall, Hadrian's Wall no less, with a Brythoniaid warrior crushed under his feet. Puny wall! Puny human!

Bromogg

‘Crush you. Eat you! But not fed after. You are but morsel!’ - Bromogg, Moroghurond

The giants, the oghurond and dagoghurond, are enormous creatures, fully thirty feet tall, able to stomp whole armies into the dust: but the moroghurond are larger still, forty feet from topknot to foot, with an appetite to match. Bromogg is the mightiest of all the Albainn giants: wielding a tree trunk and stump, bearing little armour but borrowed shields, he is the ultimate centrepiece of any Albainn army.

Who Are the Albainn?

The Albainn are the people the Romans called the Pictii, the Painted, who inhabit the far north of modern-day Scotland. The Picts were a fairly savage people but their civilisation was well-developed, and many historians believe that the Britons and the Picts were one and the same. Certainly, until the Anglo-Saxons arrived and conquered the northlands, the Picts and the Britons lived next to each other and mixed freely.

Dun Durn

In Darklands the Albainn are savage, warlike humans, usually painted for war and sometimes naked. Skilled with spear and shield, sling and crossbow, and with their allies the giants and ogres of the far north mountains they defend Alba from their invading foes, especially the Fomoraic and the Norse, and whilst they are somewhat insular the Albainn are not above revenge raids and annexing territory near their lands.

The giants - massive, ancient beings of legend - and their smaller cousins the oghur and the oghurithne revere the oghu stones, the stone circles that dot the landscape of Alba, stones that act as conduits for earth power and that also resist sorcery. Many humans, hoping to find favour with the ogres, ape those beliefs and worship the stones alongside them, but this does not sit well with the Christians amongst the Albainn, of which there are many in the south.

Fortriu

There are seven Kingdoms of Alba but the realm with the most influence and power is Fortriu. A bleak yet beautiful landscape of forest, heath, hill and mountain, Fortriu is an unforgiving place and although it is not barren it is certainly not easy to grow many of the crops found in the rich, fertile south. Instead the Albainn rear tough, hardy sheep and other grazing animals, mostly to eat but also to trade with, and fish the coasts of their land.

The largest city, and the seat of the Fortrean King Talorc son of Uuid (who many claim should be King of all the Albainn), is Dun Durn. A mighty walled fortress atop an ancient, silenced volcano, it offers commanding views and is a bastion any invading army would find difficult to capture - as the Dál Riatans and the Northumbras have found to their cost.

You can learn more about the Albainn on the Mierce Miniatures webstore and in the Lands of Darkness kindred guide!
