The mighty Penda, warrior-king of the Miercna Anglecynn, shifting slowly into the wulf he was always meant to be, is the fierce bulwark that stands between the zealots of Wesseax, the dead of Wiht and the raiders over the whale road. Armed with the reforged Nægling, the sword of Beowulf of the sagas, if it were not for Penda, the Anglecynn would have succumbed to the nailed god long ago, and he knows that to turn away from Woden would be to invite the doom of his people.
