No one recalls when the Hydra first awoke, but for centuries, its many heads have feasted upon all who dared trespass in its domain. The Bronzeclad Greatgoblins, in their arrogance, sought to drive the beast from the cavernous depths beneath the woods. But the Hydra is insatiable. Their armored corpses lie torn and forgotten among the bones of countless others. Goblin warlords whisper of warriors who marched into the caves to slay the beast, but none have returned. The Veiled Sisterhood does not waste lives on the impossible. Their blades are for men, their arrows for foes who bleed like mortals. But for such creatures, a different weapon is needed: cunning, patience, tribute. Once a month, the Sisters drag the broken bodies of goblins and beasts to the edge of the Hydra’s lair and leave them to rot. A silent pact. A fragile balance. As long as the Sisters feed the beast, it does not see them as prey. Yet all bargains with monsters are fleeting. If the tribute should ever cease, or if the Hydra senses weakness, it will seek new prey. And the blood of the Veiled Sisters may one day stain the forest floor, just as the Greatgoblins' does.
