Of Ogres, Giants, Half-Demons and Hobbies
Rob LaneShare
We have a bumper blog post for you all today, fellow Miercenaries; not only do I speak of new hobby stuff you can grab from us, there's some amazing images of ogres, giants and demilegionarii!
New Hobby Stuff
I've been working hard lately on putting lots of new hobby stuff on the webstore; in the space of just a few months, there's new ranges for both Vallejo and The Army Painter, with the fantastic True Metallic Metals for the former and the Warpaints Air and John Blanche Masterclass series for the latter. Let's go deep into what you can find now...
More Vallejo!
The new True Metallic Metal paints from Vallejo are absolutely amazing - metallic blues, reds, yellows, greens, whatever you can think of! So instead of mixing silver with your colours, these are actually metallic. A literal goldmine for you all!
True metallic reds!! Blues, greens, all sorts...
Along with all this new range, we've added more mediums and auxiliaries, new Game Color sets (of four colours each), a new Xpress Color set and a new Game Air set; alongside the Premium Color range - designed for remote control cars and whatnot - as well as a ton of new Model Color sets. Stencils and diorama bases have been added too; mostly useful for the historical hobbyist, there's nevertheless some interesting stuff there.
I will add the Vallejo painting guides at some point too...
New VMS!
We've added some new VMS hobby stuff to the store too; the lovely new no-peel primer range as well as some polystyrene cement and airbrush cleaner.
Tons of The Army Painter!
It's taken me a while I know but I've finally fleshed out The Army Painter's full range, just about, including all their tools and glues, brushes and painting accessories; as well as adding the Warpaints Air (designed for airbrushes of course) and the John Blanche Masterclass series (which is not yet available - it should be here in September). You can get the John Blanche Masterclass sets right now, but not the individual paints yet.

There's some brilliant colours in these John Blanche Masterclass sets!
Oh, and there's the Speedpaint Markers, too - very interesting paint tools, and that's for sure. I may well try them out myself...
New Ogres
As I've spoken about recently, I'm trying to get ahead of the releases and I've just about managed it, I think. Ivan Flaman has completed July's oghur battle host for the Albainn, with predictably brilliant results - or so I say myself!

The new Gudhlagg commands the host!
I have to say, this is Ivan's best work for us yet; the little details are superb, and really make the miniatures. He puts so much movement into them as well. You're going to love them!
In July's host you'll get:
- Gair Gudhlagg, Oghur Uhmaer
- Morair Gudhlagg, Oghur Uhmaer
- Orlagg, Oghur Uhmaer
- Orlagg, Oghur Uhmaer [pin up]
- Oghu Stoneshields, Gair Oghur Unit (7x warriors w cmd)
- Oghu Stoneguards, Morgair Oghur Unit (7x warriors w cmd)
- Oghu Grimguards, Morgair Moroghur Unit (3x warriors)
So, two versions of Gudhlagg (shieldwall and great spear), two versions of the new lady oghur Orlagg, two versions of the oghur (shieldwall and great spear) and a unit of really big oghur, the moroghur.
The new Gudhlagg and oghur do mean, of course, that the old versions will be removed from the webstore shortly. So if you want those historical, classic, never-to-be-cast-again Mierce Miniatures, you've got about two weeks to get them.
The old oghur were a little smaller than I liked, but these new ones are quite a lot bigger - a little bigger than the Fomoraic's ograx, in fact. The Albainn, having giant blood, should have larger ogres; all ogres of any kind - ograx, fir bholg - are either mutated or descended from the Albainn oghur, but that giant blood gets rather thinner in other realms.
The moroghur are the largest of the oghur and are thus the largest of the ‘small giants’; bigger than the mor bholg, and the bridge between the oghurond and the oghur in terms of how they play. On 80mm bases, these guys are truly big lads!

Do you like Daggs?
Now, I know I said you'd get these on the 2nd of July - but I didn't count on our lass booking a holiday. Not one for complaining about a surprise holiday, I am thus on a surprise holiday next week (Anglesey, in case you're wondering, wherefrom Urien hails)! This means the oghur host will be available on the 6th of July (or possibly the 4th or 5th, depending on how things work out with coming back that weekend). Sorry guys, but holidays wait for no man. Especially ones you don't have to pay for!
New Monsters
Now then! I've spoken before about a new monster tier for you all to get your teeth into, and I've waited until now because I want it to tie into the kindred of each month's battle host. I've not had a suitable monster until now... enter Gogg the moroghurond!

A wip of Gogg the moroghurond!
He should be around 200mm tall, so he's a big bugger - which is why he's a moroghurond and not an oghurond. Gomagg will not be replaced, at least not for a long while; you've got a bigger version of him, basically!
He is of course a ‘skinny giant’, a look I love; that's a trademark of the Albainn, but there are some fat ones, needless to say - Gogamagogg being one!
New Half-Demons (or Half-Men)
So, onto August's release. Being ahead of the game means I can give you sneak peeks a month or so ahead, which is always cool.
Ariokh!
August's battle host will be for the Byzantii, and it is focussed entirely on all things half-demon. Or half-men, depending on your glass-filled preference. Either way, it's demilegionarius city, and it's all absolutely superb (so far). Rafael Callegari is working wonders at the moment and these guys (and gals) are no exception!
The new demilegionarii, including three females!
In August's host, then, you'll have:
- Ariokh, Demioption on foot
- Ariokh, Demioption on Canisinferni
- Sidero, Demianimager
- Sidero, Demianimager [pin up]
- In III Judas, Demilegionarius Incaendium (8x warriors w cmd)
- In III Judas, Demilegionarius Incaendium (8x warriors w cmd)
-
In VI Orkus, Demicanisarius Incaendium (5x warriors w cmd)
-
Vul XIII Molossus, Canisinferni Vulgus (5x warriors)
Now that is a lot of half-men... oh, and hellhounds!
Ariokh on hellhound... I mean, er, canisinferni...
New Production!
Now all that is enough to make your mind go pop like a catweasel. But I have some fantastic news, especially for those who haven't got a 3d printer!
I have been churning out these oghur in physical form for the past couple of weeks - meaning, when the host is released, you'll be able to order them and have them shipped the same week. Assuming they don't sell out really quickly - which I hope they do!
They'll be available in host form as well as individually, although the host will be a limited edition; and it probably won't be exactly the same as the digital host each month, simply because of cost. I'm hoping to have each host around £100, with possibly a subscription - more on that next time.

Lots of oghur!
As well as the host and its contents, I am also aiming to have the monster already in production each month, too. In resin, if it warrants it!
I have long wanted to do this; to get to a point where I am only releasing new miniatures if they are already in production, and I'm finally at that point. It's been a long, winding road to get to it, and I do still have backlog miniatures to produce, but I am confident that I can produce both the backlog and the new stuff each month. And if there's more than I can handle thanks to the new releases selling like hot cakes - well, I'll just have to work harder, won't I? Or employ a printing troll...
Oh, and there's the small matter of the last six month's worth of hosts that haven't been released physically yet. I'm planning on producing one of those each month too - more on that another time.
New Whale
One final word before I sign off: the backwhale is in resin and in production. I've had to re-arrange the upper jaw for casting in resin simply because of the baleen - they're now separate components - but that's now sorted and I do hope the very first shipments will begin next week, when I'm off.

The backwhale has been on the beer. 'Cos he's legless. Geddit?
After that I'll sort the new giant, and then it's corpse-dragon time... the parts for which are already master printed, I just have to clean them up and get them ready for moulding.
Let the good times roll...

Agreed on the hellhounds, very cool. Loving the new albaain also. I like that their ogres are bigger than other kindreds, adds to their background.
Glad to hear that production is rolling along smoothly there, that’s always a plus. And enjoy your vacation.
Those Byzanti demon hounds look amazing. And as for corpse dragon time ….I can’t wait
