The Fomorainn are creatures of the sea, mainly, for they are descendants of the Fomor that rule below the waves, but they live upon land well enough, although that land must be damp and cold for them to live comfortably. Such a land is Mann, amongst others, an isle of fog and marsh, stream and bog, at least in the hollows and the dells; and this allows them respite from the demands of their grandfathers, relief from the plague of corsairs and pirates that leave no shore unspoiled. For, shrouded in the chilling mist of their own making, none can find Mann without their knowledge, and so none can seek their strength unless they will it.
