The sons of Ceredig, led by their pugnacious king who is named Clydog, are hardy and resilient, for their lives in the bleakness of the west ensure they have to be. Their coasts are constantly raided by the Gwyddeleg and the Llychlynwyr and the Fomoraidd; their eastern and southern lands are plundered by the Saeson and the traitors, the fradwyr, of Cernyw. As tough as they are, the Ceredigiau ever need the strength and tenacity of the Gwyferniau, the powerful wyverns of Elenydd and beyond, for their settlements are few in number and spread far and wide, and only the wings of the wyverns can bring aid quickly.
