Happy Ēostre weekend!

Happy Ēostre weekend!

Rob Lane

I've been pretty quiet these past couple of weeks but that doesn't mean I've been slacking, oh no. I've been creating new graphics, working on the webstore's functionality, adding a new hobby product range (with more to come next week), musing on Darklands Lite... by crikey, I've been busier than a busy bee eating busy berries!

New Graphics

It will take a while to get them all done, but you have to move the mountain one rock at a time, right? I began changing the graphics of all our miniatures to reflect the new ‘style’ of Darklands last year (which you can see below) but I'm now working on this in earnest; a lot of the painted miniatures are already done, and I'll continue working on those first as painted stuff grabs the most attention.

Penda the Bloody-Handed, Warrior-King of Mierce on Foot and on Horse

Even so, I'm adding some unpainted / digital miniature graphics at the same time, so keep your eye out for that.

Speaking of painted miniatures, our good friend George Bocking has been painting loads of stuff that I must get around to photographing - he's done the Norse trolls, Ingjald on his hippogriff, the wihtas, the wiht cavalry... even the wingless gwyfern, Gahwn. Better get that sorted!

Infographics

While the new miniature graphics contain some information such as base size and heights, it's about time I got more information on the miniatures moved over; to that end I'll be tasking my special programmer friends to alter the look of the product page somewhat.

I should be able to get the product contents, miniature heights, sculptor and artist information plus add more images (to reflect the optional bits like helmets and spears instead of swords) as well as turntable videos, so watch out for that soon.

Model Scene-ics

Over the last few months I've been working hard on Anglia Models, our sister webstore for plastic model kits, and one of the good things about it (at least in a Mierce Miniatures sense) is the frankly incredible scenics, paints and hobby stuff I now have access to. Much rumination over beer has led me to think I might as well offer it all to you guys!

We already offer Vallejo Game Color paints here, of course - along with Express Color and Metal Color - but I can also add Model Color and pretty much anything else that Vallejo do.

As well as Vallejo I can add what used to be called Gunze Sangyo (now Mr Color / Mr Hobby), widely regarded as some of the best paints and auxiliaries around, and I'll be adding that range next week; and I've access to AK Interactive, Ammo, Humbrol, Tamiya... all sorts. I'll be adding those as time goes on so you have a mountain of choice to go with your Mierce Miniatures.

To get to the point: this week I've added Model Scene's amazing range of scenics to the store, which includes some brilliant base decoration materials such as grass tufts, static grass, leaves and vegetation, but there's also some superb scenery too. Three different types of trees, flexible grass mats of varying colours, textures and shapes, bushes, fencing... it's brilliant, and perfect for Darklands miniatures and tabletops!

Model Scene - L8-101 - Small Autumn Maple Leaves
Autumn leaves, perfect for base decoration!

Model Scene - F534-S - Stony Steppe Grass Mat in Late Summer (13x17cm)

A grass terrain mat which is flexible to glue to undulating terrain, or maybe just as a mat to place for your Meadow or Heath terrain feature!

Model Scene - 050-27S - Short Beige Grass Tufts

Grass tufts for your bases!

There's more scenics I can lay my hands on, too, so watch out for those in the near future. The next few months should see loads of hobby stuff on the webstore!

Darklands Lite

I know I shouldn't predict anything, but I'm excited, so here goes: I do hope to have Darklands Lite ready for the playtesters in May and hopefully by June/July it will be ready to unleash. I do have a lot of profiles to work through and alter, so I may just do the basics first, but I am intending to do a project on Game Found (they've asked me to, anyway) for Darklands Lite/3rd, likely to be sometime in August to beat the holiday blues.

Anyway, that's enough blabble from me today. We wish you all a very happy Easter weekend and we hope to see you exercise those miniature ordering fingers with the Buy One, Get Two Free noble offer while you're enjoying it - as well as some Model Scene-ics!

Hm, a crowdfunder for Darklands Lite/3rd in August? I’ll start saving now. Darklands has the best miniatures around but I’ve yet to play, need to rectify that!

@Sebastian – you’re not wrong… feel free to pay those specialists, Sebastian, and I’ll hand the work right over ;o)

Rob Lane

It really sounds like you need more employees! You seem to be doing all sorts of tasks that would ideally be handed to specialists
