Rubbery Jubbly

Rubbery Jubbly

Rob Lane

That lovely two-headed giant, Gogamagogg, has arrived on Planet Mierce and he's going into rubber next week, all thanks to the genius of Ivan Flaman!

His Fatness now has a bigger belly (the better to drink ale and consume random animals with) and a few corrections were made to ensure he cast properly. Because that's right, ladies and gentlemen - this guy will be the first of our new monsters to be produced in cast resin; if you remember, going forward, we're going to go back to cast resin for almost everything that's on 60mm bases or above.

Check out the new, fatter belly!

Looksee here - he'll be in rubber next week!

So, let's talk statistics. He's 189mm tall and will stand on a 120mm base. He's around the same size as Gomagg / Omogg and so his cost in cast resin will be the same as him - £149.99.

Now, there's only a few to make for Kickstarter backers, so they'll be sent next week and then we'll put him on general sale. Because he's in cast resin we'll be able to ship them out VERY quickly - so don't be shy if you want him, grab him! We'll no doubt do some kind of offer, so watch out for that.

Rubberisation

If you remember, we are transitioning our bigger Grey Wulf sculpts (most things 60mm, and anything above that base size) into cast resin, with the monsters from the Brutal Beasts kickstarters getting the treatment first; but we've hit a bit of a wall with the moulding simply because there was a shortage for a couple of months on the rubber we use (something to do with container ships, I dunno).

That means we've had a backlog of stuff that needed to be remoulded (hello Blood-Maw, Galagaak, Kadamastar - the list goes on) and so we've only managed to get the cogwyfern moulded up and cast so far, but the mammax are printed and ready so they'll be next (hopefully next week).

This is probably the order in which we'll do them.

  • cogwyfern - being cast
  • Gogamagogg - moulded, cast next week
  • mammax - printed, ready to mould
  • oghureach
  • dromedonii
  • mór bholg
  • krokokh
  • cawrdraig
  • Nidalung (note that the antlers will stay in Grey Wulf)
  • gunnhrafn

So - sometime in June/July, they should all be in rubber and cast in resin.

We're also making sure the older monsters that were starting to be produced in Grey Wulf now go back into cast resin, so watch out for that also. Hopefully by the end of this year everything will be back in cast resin, leaving the smaller stuff for 3d printing production.

Ratty Tower

Speaking of production of things, the rat war tower is in full swing and we aim to have them all shipped out in the next few weeks. We've hit a couple of snags, as is always the case with such a complicated beastie, but we hope to get it all resolved soon. The first casts have already made it out there, so if you have some pics, show us - I've not even managed to get one cast for myself yet. It *should* be fairly straightforward to build...

Two Warlords

What else has been happening? Well, Rafael Callegari has been working on more of the warlords from the 100 Warlords project. Rather than re-invent the wheel, I tasked Rafael with amending Bob Plociennik's original Cadwaladr and Ingjald into new poses, and I think the results speak for themselves!

As you can see, Cadwaladr has two head options as well.

I actually think Ingjald has turned out better than it has any right to be. What a fantastic king for your Norse hosts!

That leaves two remaining to be sculpted from the project, Kraan and Eorcenbehrt, due to be sculpted by Cleyton Amorim. Unfortunately Real Life has entered Cleyton's world and he's had to deal with a few family issues recently. He does assure me that he'll be working on these two in the next week or so, but he does work quickly so I'm hopeful these will be done in June.

Just a reminder - a few of you have asked if you can purchase more warlords, and that won't be a problem; once we've got all the warlords sculpted I'll add them to the webstore and you can order away.

A Monster a Month

Gogamagogg - and the speed of Ivan and Rafael - has got me thinking, too. You guys love monsters, right? So let's push on with more. Ivan's got a monster lined up for me next month - the mighty paracerox! - and I may well attempt to get some new toys ready for the month after. You guys love new toys, right? It's been bloody boring for you all this last six months with very little new things to chew on. Let's change that!

Here's a few concepts that may make it to this new project... starting with the paracerox, which probably will be ready for the start in July...!

I have more, but that would be telling. I could even turn this into some kind of monthly subscription at a slightly cheaper rate. Hmm...

Off to Frankia

Next Friday I am heading over to Pastures France for a bloody well deserved two week holiday, even if I do say so myself.

I say a holiday - I have to take my steam-powered laptop to keep up with things of course. The perils of running your own business, right?

Still, when I come back I'll hopefully be nice and refreshed and ready to extract more money from your wallets for some odd-shaped plastic that you can push about on a table while drinking beer.

Here's to that! Keep it Mierce, Miercenaries!

Great googly-moogly!! (as the Zappa might say)
Huge monsters in resin and one monster a month?! I believe that my anemic wallet is crying already.

Santiago

@Lucy – absolutely, he will be in cast resin as soon as I can make him so. I warn you though – he’ll be around £200 in cast resin! We always do deals though, so watch out for that…
