Toy Farming

Toy Farming

Rob Lane

It's been just over a month since my last missive so it's about time I updated you all on what's going on in the toy farm that is Mierce Miniatures, really!

New Toys

Let's get some new things out of the way, because that's what you love to see, right?

The sculptors have been hard at work sculpting and the results are more than impressive. Rafael Callegari, in particular, has been storming ahead of late with the much anticipated corpse-dragon, Drēorgan; he actually said to me he thought it might be ready for the weekend, but we'll see. He also has to do the rider...! So it will definitely be September before he's done. But believe me, he is going to be EPIC...

Anyroad, here's some lovely pics!

You can really see the zombification, muscles and guts. It will definitely need a paintjob so you know what's what though!

Rafael's also been doing some nice outsize bases for our forthcoming leviathannic bigiatures, Uuluu the backwhale, Ilkulkaag the paracerox as well as one for the already produced Wrong-Tongue, which will all be printed once and then cast in resin...

Uuluu - 300x160mm

Ilkulkaag - 180x100mm base

Wrong-Tongue - 170x90mm

Anybody that has pre-ordered / received Wrong-Tongue can get in contact and I'll send a base out to you when the time comes.

Rafael is working on the new Kaarstan right now, too, a precursor to the new reivers and reiver horse.

New Atalantes

The new Atalantes miniatures - Kyros, Herakles, Olympia, the Khalkotes and the Kórikolossi - were finished around Christmas time but as we had such a backlog of battle hosts to produce (and still do, although as I write the 7th Jutsweord is printing, so I am definitely getting there) it seemed pointless to put them up for sale. Even so, I'm working on the graphics in anticipation of unleashing them. You can purchase the nobles right now, as they would not prove too taxing...

Kyros, Strategos of Ilios

Godspear Herakles, Heros of Ilios

Olympia Delta, Stratekórikolossos

What I'll probably do is get these ready by the end of the month, pop them on the site, and do a battle host promotion later on in the year when the backlog is down. It will be down...

Avatars of War

What else have we been up to? Well, I mentioned in my last blog that I'm working on getting other people's miniatures produced - if only to bring you orcs, goblins, elves and dorfs!

You should have seen the announcement by now; Felix and Johanna at Avatars of War have kindly granted me a license to produce their miniatures in our beautiful Grey Wulf resin and the first orders have already been shipped. By the time you read this the introductory offer would have ended, but they are relatively cheap regardless and you're assured of some very high quality miniatures indeed. Just look at some of this...

Barbarian Lord on Sabretooth

Ogre Mercenary Captain

Goblin Archers Multi-Part Regiment

Beastmen with Two Weapons Multi-Part Regiment

Trolls of Chaos Multi-Part Regiment

Have a good gleg at their miniatures on the Avatars of War page!

So, a bit of a new direction for us, but sometimes a change is as good as a rest, just like a nod's as good as a wink to a blind monkey, so why the Infernus not?

I love cool miniatures as much as the next sweaty, and just because it's not Darklands doesn't mean I can't love them! So over the next few months we'll be producing more and more miniatures from a few (carefully selected) digital manufacturers, because they're incredible, and because they deserve some love from those of you that might not have seen them, especially if you're not into 3d printing!

I think next up will be the miniatures from Artisan Guild, a particular favourite of mine, because some of their figures need to be seen to be believed. I mean, look...

Artisan Guild have more dorfs than you can shake a stick at, as well as plenty of... well, everything else! Undead, orcs & goblins, elves, beastmen, vampires, you name it, they've done some miniatures for it. Best of all, they do some bloody cool monsters, I can tell you...

There be Monsters!

Speaking of monsters, I have been working very hard on getting Adannwg into rubber; it's taken a bit longer than I'd hoped because he's so... bloody big...!

Those wings alone were a 25 hour print, a weekend job of course, and after this blog is posted I'll be filling holes and cleaning up ready to go into rubber. Once I've done that, we're home away, and I do hope to be sending the first by Friday... but we'll see!

This month's MONSTER OF THE MONTH (I like shouting) is of course Iskarnos the bloody great fire spitting szalamakh, sculpted by Ivan Flaman.  Watch out for proper pictures next week, once he's fettled.

September's monster of the month? Hmm. Well, that there is a secret, innit? But you can bet it will be a stupendous beast...

August Blues

That's all for now, fellow Miercenaries: but in this month of August, please remember that everybody and their dog are on holiday right now and don't buy miniatures. So please give generously - I need some new pants!

@Rob Lane No, if you were subscribed you’d get the host, if not then no host. That part is clear. I’m very sorry if I’m making this harder than it should be, not trying to argue, just trying to clear something up.
-Your last post back in December mentioned that the Khalkotes weren’t sculpted yet for the host but would come later
-I received the Atalantes Host through MyMiniFactory, the same day that post went up
-I checked it recently and found the Khalkotes were still missing
I’ve been rummaging through downloads n’ email to see if I missed something or any news of them getting released. As far as I can tell, nothing. Many people, if I had to guess, are probably still missing those files for the host.

What I’m trying to ask: were the Khalkotes STL files ever handed out to subscribers after being finished? If not, is there any chance old subscribers could gain a limited time download to those files to finish their host? If you did hand them out…could I get a quick download since I apparently missed it? Or, overall, do people need to cut the loss of STLs and just wait for the Khalkotes in physical form when you get around to them?

Again, sorry for making this harder than needed, just wanted to ask a simple question.

Aaron

@Aaron – I won’t publish the digital host if you weren’t a subscriber; is that what you mean?

So, subscribers would get it, but nobody else digitally… the khalkotes would be a part of the digital host, alongside the kórikolossi, Olympia, Kyros and Herakles though.

Rob Lane

@Rob Lane Maybe I should have been more specific ( it was late when I asked): with the Atalantes models some may wonder about the khalkotes since they were planned for the host in STL but weren’t t quite done at the time. If I recall there was some talk that they would be released separately from the rest of the host later to subscribers when they were finished.

Obviously, time and situation has changed things but I do have to ask if there is any plan to finish the digital host for those who did subscribe or if we need to cut the loss and wait for those models physically?

Aaron

@Aaron – not sure when they’ll be out, it depends when I get the older battle hosts produced and sent, but sometime later on this year is the basic answer. And yes, if you were subscribed, you would get the Atalantes as STLs.

Rob Lane

Good to get some news again The dragon is coming along nicely and the Uuluu is absolutely stunning (if also a bit funny, which I like).

I was also wondering when the Atalantes stuff would come out. Probably no point in asking since its now defunct but will anyone who was subscribed to the STL hosts get their files since they weren’t ready at the time the battle host was coming out?
