Heroes of Ilios

It's taken a little longer than I anticipated, but here's the second Darklands battle host for August (to purchase physically or digitally) - and the very first of our battle host reissues!

The Heroes of Ilios battle host, comprising three different commanders, two units of infantry and two units of bigger infantry was originally released back in late 2024 for the Atalantes kindred of Darklands, and it was the last of that crop of hosts that began in early 2023; and while it was available digitally, it's taken until now to produce it physically. To celebrate that, and to bring it in line with the new battle hosts, you'll also find a new pinup version of Shieldwall Thera, which you didn't get originally!

Alongside the battle host we must also bring you a monster, right? Right! That means the superb Iliatheos, a giant colossus of bronze and starlight, will tramp forward and blast you with its laser beams - and this time with a cool scenic base!

You can purchase the miniatures within each unit singly, as units or as the battle host itself - and while these physical hosts give you a great discount, typically around half the price of purchasing the miniatures within individually, they will be strictly limited edition each month to ten sets only. Heroes of Ilios

The damned islands of Atalantia resist the encroachment of the seas still: aye, and the attentions of the pirates and raiders that come to its shores in search of the incredible wealth it contains. Not gold, nor silver, nor even bronze, mind, though there is plenty of that; it is the arcane machines, the living metals, the ancient power contained within that city-state that the heroes of Ilios must defend. They may be few in number, now, the Atalantes, but the weaponry they may call upon is unmatched within the lands of darkness, not the least of which are the gods of bronze that patrol each isle, unceasing, eternal, watching for the enemies that dare despite the warnings from legend.

The commander of the Heroes of Ilios is Kyros, a veteran of many battles in the fight to defend Atalantia, often riding the bronze horse known as Medon to war.

He's available with sword or sunspear weapons, but both Kyros and Sunspear Kyros have  the option of bare head or helmed head.

The mighty champion Herakles, perhaps not the best commander but certainly the best fighter, assists Kyros with the Heroes of Ilios.

Armed with sword or godspear, and riding the pegakolossos known as Pegasos, Herakles is a powerful addition to any Atalantes host!

Olympia is a kórikolossos, a smaller, quicker colossus of bronze that takes the form of the female warriors of old Atalantia.

Armed with either sword or spear, sculpted by Dray Win, Olympia is the perfect commander for the units of kórikolossi in the Heroes of Ilios!

There are four units of infantry in the Heroes of Ilios battle host, two khalkotes units (sculpted by Rafael Callegari) and two kórikolossos units (sculpted by Dray Win). The khalkotes - veteran warriors injured from previous battles, and repaired with bronze limbs or other body parts by the tekhnománeis - come in two variants, with sword (above) as the Ilios Warriors or with spear (below) as the Ilios Fighters.

Both units come complete with bare head and helmed head options, too!

The kórikolossi units also have two variants - with sword as The Swift Ones; 

or with spear as The Quick Ones!

Who Are the Atalantes?

An ancient race of sea-farers and raiders with a long and troubled history of trade and war with civilisations thousands of miles from Atalantia, the Atalantes cling stubbornly to that crumbling land despite the encroaching seas and the efforts of their myriad enemies, much of whom were once their slaves. Indeed, such is the strife upon Atalantia that it is the will of many to return to their origins, as foolhardy as that may be, yet those still with their wits about them employ forbidden magic and unearthly weapons to keep their lands and their culture alive. Many believe their race is doomed - at least, upon Gæa - yet it would be foolish to discount the strength of their artifices and pay heed to the desires of fools, for the Atalantes have power yet.

Of all the city-states of Atalantia, Ilios - the City of the Sun - has perhaps the most astute citizens amongst the Atalantes, for they do not believe their path lies with the stars and decry those that do. Thus, the Ilioses plan and strategise against the myriad problems they are faced with upon this earth: the encroachment of the sea most of all, for lands are lost too frequently and Hephaestus sleeps poorly, and the growing strength of their former slaves and the raids of their enemies to the north and east. So it is that the Ilioses raise citizen-soldiers in numbers unheard of and turn to the ancient artifices that captured the power of the sun itself, the Colossi and the Tauroi and the Oplítes of bronze, for their pride is strong and they will resist the death of Atalantia until their dying breath.

When you purchase the item you will receive an e-mail with a download link; make sure you follow the e-mail instructions and off you go!

Pin Up Loyalty Rewards

You will ONLY receive the Pin Up loyalty reward in this battle host by purchasing it on our webstore; you will NOT get the loyalty reward if you subscribe on MyMiniFactory.

Bear in mind, too, that NONE of the Pin Ups will be available digitally separately from the monthly subscription. You'll have to subscribe to get them - or purchase them as physical products, of course.
