Don't Forget to Remember

Don't Forget to Remember

Rob Lane

Life moves so fast, you forget what you've done over the years. In retiring a number of our older miniatures, and selling the studio painted versions of them, we've had to trawl through boxes and boxes of miniatures of yore: and by gum, we've created some incredible miniatures!

A tiny selection of our superbly painted studio miniatures!

When we used to go to Salute, before convid-1984, we allowed prospective Miercenaries to pick up and handle our miniatures - to judge for themselves the quality and sheer size of some of them. I often wondered why other companies didn't do the same to be honest, and I was always quite taken aback by what we'd made and achieved over the years. We are always focused on the next miniature to be made, and consequently it's often quite easy for us to forget what we've created just a few months ago!

"Don't be shy... come and pick them up!"

So it is quite bittersweet, really, seeing the painted stuff again; and seeing it depart our shores, never to be displayed by us in the future. But I guess, they're not doing much sat in boxes, so let's allow someone else to enjoy them properly!

Grab a hold of some mierce history on our eBay account before they're gone forever, Miercenaries...

Vras Bashing

Speaking of remembrance, remember this month's battle host? The vras? Well, check out our best mate Christian Hacon and his utterly splendiferous vras host, complete with newly-printed rend-vras (at the back).

A veritable horde of skin and fur and claw and fang!

Just shows you what you can do with a 3d printer, some paint, and some time... awesome work as always Bish man!

Shadows of Carn Bran

April's Ysians are coming on leaps and bounds, thanks to Rafael Callegari's very hard work. I should have some more graphics to show you early next week, but here's some snippets to keep you going until then...

Arwec, Shadow-Master

Rogues of Carn Bran (note the female archer there)

Muldo and Buldo, Hammer- and Sickle-Brutes

Here's the full list of April's host:

  • Arwec of Carn Bran, Shadow-Master
  • Arwec of Carn Bran, Shadow-Master [Pin Up]
  • Hammer-Brugg, Death-Brute
  • Blade-Grigg, Death-Brute
  • Shadows of Carn Bran, Shadow-Drune Unit (5x warriors)
  • Rogues of Carn Bran, Rogue-Drune Unit (5x warriors)
  • Brutes of Brugg, Great Club Brute Unit (5x warriors)
  • Brutes of Grigg, Two Club Brute Unit (5x warriors)

I've not forgotten the brute-beasts, either - I have a sculptor working on those as I write, so watch out for more on those in the near future...

Forthcoming Files

Here's an updated schedule for you... plus a bit more detail now we're closer.

  • May - Fomoraic Gabrax Warchief, Pinup tied to a herdstone, Gabrax (great weapon plus spear/shield) and Gabrox
  • June - Anglecynn Warchief (maybe a resculpt of Broga), a Pinup of some sort (I'm tempted to do the wife as the pin up here - that'll make her laugh), Geoguth and the bloody awesome Wereofor...

We'll have completed the sculpting backlog by June (if not the production backlog), and then we'll be doing some completely new stuff each month!

  • July - Byzantii Demilegionarii; this should include demiballistarii variants and the female demis, plus ignilegionarii and some sort of warchief. Maybe a female demioption.
  • August - Norse Halftrolls, including a halftroll leader. These are going to be superb...!!
  • September - Khthones Lískar. Some six-eyed aliens for the win, including a new Pétroyos, a unit of lískar and probably the lískrothar.
  • October - Brythoniaid Rhyfelwr. About time these were resculpted - the rhyfelwyr (meaning ‘warriors’) should be the mainstay of your Welsh! There'll probably be cavalry in there too...
  • November - Érainn Fen Beast. These could definitely do with a resculpt... new Araigh, new Daghda Lúg, the works...
  • December - Infernii Fiend - renewed for a digital age...
  • January - Fomoraic Raider - plus tusk hunters, a new chief and maybe some sabretooths...

As always, I reserve the right to change the above if I have a fit of inspiration for something else.

Monster Tiers... or is it Tears?

Something I'm toying with is another tier (and thus subscription) for the digital files each month. A different sculptor will be doing a single big monster per month for us (or maybe a unit of three), and I'll have it as a separate tier to add to your monthly hosts!

We'll probably start with the brute-beasts, so watch out for more on those soon. Not sure if they'll be done in time for the Ysians next month, but I'll do me best like. They might turn up half way through April!

Backlog Busting

I'm knee deep in fat lads at the moment - meaning, ograx of Baalor - and many of you have seen progress on that front; needless to say, there's a literal ton of them out there now. There's more to go, but I reckon I might be able to say that they are all done by the end of April - but we'll see.

For the other backlog things, I'm still working on jutgar and I'm a fair bit through them, but this is not helped by Ingjald the Mighty 8K dying completely. Well, the LCD screen anyway. I am getting there, people.

Regarding the big whale, the corpse-dragon and so forth, there's been a bit of a stop put on those simply because I'm down a printer, but I am determined to have the whale printed by the end of March (or at least the end of next week) and into rubber in April. He's not got many parts, so hopefully he won't be too much of a problem. One thing I won't be doing in future is hollowing out the master components - moulding hollow parts has led to some issues with pressure on the prints for one thing - but chiefly it's far less trouble to clean up the print ready for casting. You should only make mistakes once, really. Twice, and you're on the way to insanity...

Other than that, guys and gals, Miercenaries and mudfloods (there's a conspiracy theory), I've run out of things to say for a change. Until next time...

If the Terror ever needs to find a new home, I’ll be more than happy to provide it. 😀

And all the upcoming things are looking fantastic – as always.
