Ker-Ys Collection

Postby Alex (ÉgB) » Thu Feb 18, 2016 8:25 am

Following SH2, my fledgling Ker-Ys collection will be getting a bit of a boost. This is what I've got/ordered already (apologies for any missing diacritics):

Hedroc (war-chain)
Annik (falchion)
Kernour
10 Ax-Drune
5 Brutes

Carrowek (ax)
Mawdred (banner)
Jowan (whip)
3 Drune Hounds
3 Goad-Drune
10 Bow-Drune

Slurping Zethag

Crom (glaive)
10 Ax-Drune
Meat Hulk

From SH2 I intend to get:

Annik (bow)
10 Rogue-Drune
3 Brute Corrupters

Hedroc (Sickle)
Gondard
3 Nithings
10 Shadow-Drune
3 Hound Aberrant

Brugg (thank you Goat-Eater deal :D )

I also plan to get:

Crom (2 ax)
Annik (sickle)
Mawdred (ax-falcion)
Kernour (alt w/dagger)
Jowan (2 ax)
Rose (Saairen)
Kerazek

Yes, I know that's a lot of nobles, but the miniatures/art are too good not to have them in my collection.

My current thinking is a couple of Battle-Drune commanders (take my pick of the equipment ;) ), a Seer-Drune and a Harvest-Drune. Get the Ax-Drune units in there and the Brutes (cause they are what convinced me to start Ker-Ys), then I'm a bit stuck due to the sheer range of options I have.

Is there anything I'm very obviously missing to be able to make a fun muster with the above collection? Any 'must haves' I've not got yet? I know I've not got the Sword-Melusine host yet; I saw occasional comments about a potential resculpt for this unit, is it worth waiting?

(there's likely to be similar posts for my other kindred soon - just warning you!)

Looks solid to me and versatile enough to have fun list building, while still following a clear concept.

I mean you got Druc and the Hound-Aberrants for some variety. As it seems you're not eager to include Abhorrents or the beasties, the only thing I miss in your concept would be Carrowek for big games.

Thanks!

I definitely prefer the look of the Brutes to the Aberrants, purely aesthetic choice that!

On the larger beasts, I'm holding out for the crab clawed vivicoct :)

Oh yeah, Conjunct XIX is at the top of my list too.
With the KS-price set at 54 I'm sure it'll be huge once it's produced....

It'll make a very nice centrepiece for my Ker-Ys in that case :)

Upon finalising my SH2 pledge, I noticed I do indeed have Carrowek on order... so that's that one sorted! ;)

So, given my realignment towards Skirmish level games (at least for now):

Battle-Drune (war chain) 73 - common
10 Ax-Drune (command) 170 - mainstay
5 Shadow-Drune (champion) 105 - uncommon

Death-Brute 146 - uncommon
3 Brutes (champion) 174 - mainstay
2 Brute Corrupters 114 - mainstay

Harvest-Drune 130 - uncommon (2) (had to fit Zethag in!)
7 Bow Drunes (champion) 87 - common

999

As I've worked out what I have (and what I have ordered), it has become clear I am fast approaching 2000gc for all three of my kindred. I've worked out a Ker-Ys host almost purely based on what miniatures I have in hand now (need a Zethag!):

Carrowek (Unique + Rare)
Ax-Drune x10 - full command (Mainstay)
Goad-Drune x3 - champion (Uncommon)
Meat-Hulk (Bound)
Harvest-Drune (Uncommon 2)
Battle-Drune - Banner (Common)

Death-Brute (Uncommon)
Brutes x3 - champion (Mainstay)
Brutes x2 - great-club (Mainstay)

Seer-Drune - Bursting Flesh, Blind (Uncommon)
Bow-Drune x10 - champion (common)

Battle-Drune - chain (Common)
Ax-Drune x10 - full command (Mainstay)

I then have some gold left over, so for now it'll pay for a Falchion-Annik or a Glaive-Crom to bolster Carrowek's command.

As with my other kindred, I've worked out a 499gc list to help learn the game. Here's my Ker-Ys encounter host:

Battle-Drune (Common)
Ax-Drune x10 - full command (Mainstay)
Brutes x2 (Uncommon)

Seer-Drune - Bursting Flesh (Uncommon)
Bow-Drune x5 (Common)

This gives a little bit of most things to get practicing with.

As you might have seen from my Albainn or Érainn posts - I'm taking a 499-1500 escalation approach to DL now. Here are my Ker-Ys lists:

10 Ax-Drune (M) - full command
3 Brutes (U)

Seer-Drune (U) - Blades of Kernous, Blind
7 Bow-Drune (C) - champion

999
Battle-Drune (C)
Battle-Drune (C) - Banner
Harvest-Drune (U2)
10 Ax-Drune (M) - full command

Death-Brute (U)
3 Brutes (M) - champion
3 Brutes (M) - great weapons, champion

Seer-Drune (U) - Blades of Kernous, Blind, Bursting Flesh
10 Bow-Drune (C) - champion

1500
Battle-Drune (C)
Battle-Drune (C) - Banner
Harvest-Drune (U2)
10 Ax-Drune (M) - full command
1 Goad-Drune (U) - champion
Meat Hulk (Bound)

Death-Brute (U)
3 Brutes (M) - champion
1 Brute Corrupter (Bound)
3 Brutes (M) - great weapons, champion
1 Brute Corrupter (Bound)

Seer-Drune (U) - Blades of Kernous, Bursting Flesh
10 Bow-Drune (C) - champion

I'd be tempted to add at least two more Goad-Drunes to the 1,500 gold list, to ensure the Meat-Hulk does what he's told, but other than that, looking good.

The Corruptors are amazing, glad to see those slotting in!

Cheers

Seeing as my other kindred got bumped up to 2000 gold it's only right that I do the same to my Kernowek! After Alix arrived I knew I wanted to fit her into the list somehow, so with some Uncommon jiggerypokery (always Uncommon causing me trouble!) I have the following:

Battle-Drune (C)
Battle-Drune (C) Banner
Harvest-Drune (U2)
10 Ax-Drunes (M)

Death-Brute (U)
3 Brutes (M)
2 Brute Corrupters (bound)
3 Brutes (M) great weapons
1 Brute Corrupter (bound)

Battle-Drune (C) bow
10 Bow-Drunes (C)

Battle-Drune (C) Hound Master
3 Drune-Hounds (bound)
10 Ax-Drunes (M)
3 Goad-Drunes (U)
3 Hound-Aberrants (bound)

Alix of Carn Bran (U2+Unique)
Meat Hulk (bound)

My final Kindred to get the new list treatment following the new muster rules - here's my 2000gold list:

War-Drune (U)
10 Ax-Drune (M)
6 Shadow-Drune (C) bows, champ
4 Goad Drunes (U) champ
Meat-Hulk (bound)

Host Command
Battle-Drune (C) banner
Battle-Drune (C) falchion (pretend host champion)
Seer-Drune (U) Blind, Sweet Corruption, Blades...

Death-Brute (U)
3 Brutes (M)
2 Brute-Corrupters (bound)
3 Brutes (M) great clubs
1 Brute-Corrupter (bound) champ

Harvest-Drune (U)
10 Ax-Drune (M) veteran
10 Bow-Drune (C) champ

I'm quite happy with this (presuming I've not messed up) - it's got a monster, lots of Brutes and Zethag; all my favourites!

Like my other kindred, working at 2500 gold list level for added monstrous fun. Here's my Kernowek list:

Carrowek
10 Ax-Drune - veteran, full command
8 Shadow-Drune
3 Goad-Drune
Meat-Hulk (bound)

Host Command:
Battle-Drune - banner
Seer-Drune - blades of the horned god, blind, sweet corruption
Battle-Drune - falchion (instead of a host champion :) )

Death-Brute
4 Brutes
2 Brute-Corrupters (bound)
4 Brutes - great clubs
1 Brute-Corrupter (bound)

Harvest-Drune
10 Ax-Drune - veteran, full command
10 Bow-Drune

Alix
Baedubera

Comes to 2499 gold.

When the Baedubera was funded in the last KS I knew it'd be a perfect companion for Alix (that and the other bears I have from MM are superb so who wouldn't want more?)

An interesting host, plenty of fightiness in there plus a bit of sneakiness. I like it! Alix and the bear are a perfect touch.

Cheers
