Hold and Shoot Charge Reaction

Postby jereme » Thu Jun 26, 2014 11:10 am

From 11.1.3.1 of the Quickstarter rules, version 10.6:
Charged units performing the Hold and Shoot Charge reaction (thus called Holding and Shooting units) Turn to Face the Charging unit and immediately perform a Shoot action (with the Charging unit being the only potential Target unit) immediately before they receive the Charge.

As written, it appears the Shoot Distance used by the Holding and Shooting unit will be the same as the Charge Distance of the Charging unit.

What about cases where the Shoot Distance is beyond the Maximum Range of the weapon (Dyndraig breath, for example), or the weapon has a lethal range? Is it possible for the Holding and Shooting unit to wait for a better time to shoot?

Yea, this will appear in the full rules (along with Hold and Invoke and Counter-Charge) - it will certainly work like that; if the chargers are outside the maximum range, the shooters can wait until they're in range, as long as the Chargers are Swift Chargers (i.e., more than their PACE away). Needs to be playtested thoroughly though; for now, just let the holders shoot regardless of how far away they are.

Hope that helps.
